Today we had a long hike in the Conway Sate Forest. Here we are starting out on Poland Road, approaching Ron Prokopy’s former home, before heading into the trails of Conway State Forest. Our trail leaders, a German Shepherd and a Springer Spaniel led. We hiked up and along a gorgeous stream then took a left onto an old 1800’s Conway road , now just a vestige of a road, for a 31/2 hour trek in the woods. 3 old cellar holes and stone foundations were fun to explore.Tony filled us in on a lot of history. We actually saw sharp leaf and round leaf hepatica in bloom! I haven’t seen it in years. It was a rigorous hike with plenty of uphill sections but the dogs kept us moving. Next week: Bear Swamp. The last time we were there we were on snow shoes! Thinking of you Penny
