Hi, Today we started at the top of an Ashfield Trails hike so as to descend, rather ascend, in this heat. With the tree canopy, the temperatures in the woods was quite tolerable. Our dogs found every stream to drink from, and to loll in. This is a beautiful trail, about a 2 1/2 hour hike, longer, of course if you’re climbing it. We saw unusual stone walls, stone outcroppings, and two cellar holes. The one in the photo may be early 20th Century and is believed to be the remains of a sugar house. Big piles of brick in the rubble bricks attest to a sizable wood burning device and chimney. Once down, we crossed over into Chapel Falls and, after hardly any time at all, and hardly any discussion, were swimming!! It was SO GOOD and so much fun. Sorry not to have a swimming photo but my camera was safely stowed in my backpack. Then off to lunch at hiker Deb’s beautiful home. All in all, a perfectly wonderful day. Penny
