Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

September 12, 2013 – HenHawk Trail in Williamsburg

HenHawk Trail in Williamsburg, an old road that once ran right through Conway. Humid! Lovely woodland. Totally rustic cabin owned by a couple from Brown University and their 2 children. We had permission to “trespass”. Can you find both dogs (on and by) the porch? Nice hike up, with good views, alas obscured by low hanging clouds. Thunder started to boom so we came down quicker than we had dawdled up. Williamsburg Brewmaster Inn for our favorite $5 lunch. 1940 Buick in the parking lot. ( For all you Daleys, it wasn’t as gorgeous as Mr. Chuffer, but it was gorgeous. What year was Mr. Chuffer?) A 90 year old man picks up his 100 year friend in the Buick and they have lunch at the Inn rather regularly. But the star of the day was our discovery of Nodding Lady Tresses Orchids. Quite thrilling for all of us. Next week: Mt. Tom for a hawk watch!! Wish you were here, Penny {CAPTION}
