Back to Bear Swamp with snow falling. The terrain was tricky with icy places under the snow. We opted for micro spikes instead of snowshoes . The trails are narrow, along ridges, and incredibly beautiful. Tony was the hero of the day finding a way across a brook that would have been no fun at all to fall into! We have several non Thursday hikes coming up – one is a “dog hike” on Sunday Jan 5. Hikers are invited to bring dogs. So Baxter and Sukee, old troopers on the trails , will meet some new friends. We’re also joining an Appalachian Mount Club hike on New Year’s eve day. Just can’t seem to get enough! After 2 hours today at Bear Swamp we headed to Elmer’s Store to thaw out and where I had a bowl of tasty Asian soup. It was a challenge to eat with long strands of seaweed (yes) floating about in it. Stay warm, and Happy New Year. Penny
