After such a long spell of freezing temperatures and lots of snow, today turned out to be sunny with temperatures in the 40s as we gathered at 9am at the trail head of the HenHawk trail in Williamsburg. With so much fresh snow, it was a real joy to be out on our snowshoes in such beautiful a beautiful place. We stopped for snacks of cashews, dried cherries and oatcakes and just stood in the sun for a bit and celebrated the day. Near the end of the hike we passed a large beaver pond (last photo) and thought about returning later in the year on to watch them in action. As I had a meeting with Franklin Land Trust (I’m taking land steward training) I had to miss lunch with the gang, so no lunch report today. Late winter is a great season! I hope you’re enjoying it too. Penny
