Three cheers for WInter! It was gorgeous today as a light snowfall continued all morning on top of already fresh snow from yesterday, creating a spectacular wonderland. The Rivulet Trail (at Wm. Cullen Bryant Estate) is a hiker favorite in all seasons. After the Rivulet Trail we continued on the Loop Trail which brought us into the old growth forest, dwarfing and humbling we small humans. Many trees had come down in the Thanksgiving snowstorm causing us to lose sight of the trail markings (on downed trees?) and having the fun of getting lost and “unlost” after a bit. Back onto the Rivulet Trail, piled back into cars, and onto the Old Creamery where we gave thanks for each other, the dogs, the snow, great food, and Donna and Nancy’s birthdays. A chocolate/raspberry birthday cake finished off our lunches of mushroom/ wild rice soup, fresh cornbread/ Tortilla pie, Reuben sandwiches, water!, and various other melted, yummy eats. Embrace winter … it’ll be here for a while longer! Love, Penny
