Today’s hike was one of our most challenging and most wonderful. We were out for 4 hours, on some snowmobile trails, but also breaking a lot of trail. The snow was 2 feet deep and so perfect. It was mighty cold, but we were having quite a workout, so kept warm enough. We could have gone over the frozen beaver lake, but a bit of wisdom had us go around it. Tony led, as he’d hiked that section when he scouted today’s hike on Tuesday. The dogs had their work cut out, what with the deep snow, but cavorted as usual. The third to last photo is a great souvenir for me as I was taking my turn breaking trail (a workout!) so got to look back on just my footprints and the gang coming along. It was exhilirating. Then back to Tony’s where he had made great onion soup and others brought spinach apple salad, nuts, raspberries, tuna and egg salad, carrot salad, cheese and crackers, guacamole, great grain bread, a sweet potatoes and cranberries dish and an apple pie for dessert – all washed down with gallons of ice water. Tony’s horses were interested to see us return and the fire in his fireplace was welcome indeed. Stay warm and well, Love,Penny
