Today’s hike was a celebration of friendship, of not having to wear snowshoes or spikes, of it not being below freezing, of dodging invisible sinkholes in the path as the road is thawing (you’ll see that Tony went down over his knees in one), of keeping the high spirited dogs in line (sort of)), of enjoying Joe Zadroga who’s just turned 70 and found a tree he really likes (!), of finding cranberry viburnum leafing out and a bird feather that glowed with iridescence and that we couldn’t identify. It’s about 2 1/2 “. Can you help identify it for us?
Today was more of a relaxed stroll than a hike as we wait for the rush of the spring ephemerals when everything becomes almost too exciting and we hike like crazy people trying to see it all at once. Off to Elmer’s Store for curried chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese with apple and caramalized onion sandwiches, black bean burgers, BLT’s, carrot ginger soup, many pitchers of ice water, and a blueberry pie that Tony made to celebrate Deb’s birthday. Life is so good! Spring is here! Enjoy it! Love, Penny
