It was yet another amazing day of hiking in Hawley. The Hobble Bush red and black berries were just one sign that summer in on the wan. And no seeming end of great rock formations and fungi. The trail at Basin Brook is often single file … good practice for snowshoeing:) Veteran hiker Gwen and the hike team replaced fallen trail markers along the way. And was that an errant fall aster or a mushroom without its cap?* After crossing the rocky stream 3 times, we stopped for snacks in a hiking shelter along the trail. Beautiful waters, wonderful friends, bag lunches, and a swim at the Conway Pond when we got home. Life is good. Penny *Answer: Mushroom without its cap. (But what happened to the cap?)
