Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

1/20/17 – Peru MA

A long, gorgeous,energetic hike in Peru at Dorothy Rice Sanctuary at more or less 2030 feet. Enough of an elevation rise from Conway to give us ice covered trees and plenty of crunch underfoot. The gang finally found one another at a parking area along scenic (unnamed?)roads where we quickly put spikes on our boots and headed into the woods. It was stunningly beautiful.But my phone camera battery gave out about half way through so this report is missing some neat stuff… Oh well! We were happy to get to The Creamery in Cummington for lunch. I had “The Wholey Cow” a grilled panini sandwich on focaccia , with horseradish mayo, caramelized onions , cheddar, and thinly sliced roast beef. This sandwich is named for John Wholey, a dairy farmer in Conway. Donna made carrot cake cupcakes for the celebration of Elaine’s birthday. Everyone in the Creamery joined us in singing Happy Birthday to her. There’s something very wonderful and healthy about Co-op ventures. Please vote Yes for snow, No for Rain. Penny {CAPTION}
