Thursday Hikers

2/26/16 – Hume Trail in Windsor, MA

Had we hiked yesterday on the Hume Trail, we’d have hiked in a flood. As it turned out, we hiked in 3 inches of freshly fallen snow and had the time of our lives reveling in it. Spirits were high (as usual) and the snow almost looked artificial it was so decorative. Good dog Baxter fell through the ice and and got totally soaked. He kept warm by running fast up and down the trails and begging for treats from every hiker. We found and posed in the same fallen tree where once upon a time we transformed ourselves into Hobbits. It was quite a hilarious reenactment in which I was temporarily stuck beneath the tree trunk. A cold wind was fierce at times, but the sun just kept everything wonderful. Near the end of the hike we went through a real soggy area and the snow stuck to our spikes making Frankenstein boots of our feet. Just plain old fun all day long. Lunch at the Creamery. I had the “Soft Brieze” sandwich: Brie, spinach, roasted cherry tomatoes grilled on delicious foccacio bread. Happily thinking of you all, Penny {CAPTION}
