Hot weather for sure, but under the forest canopy and after yesterday’s rain it was actually rather cool for our hike to the Falls. As ever, spirits were high. We’ve hiked this trail before and love it. Memories of the time we hiked it on snowshoes were lovely to think about. A beautiful old cellar hole came into view and soon after that we found some nice Chicken of the Woods mushrooms. I brought a small amount home and will cook it tonight. Stop by for a taste if you happen to be in Conway. Jumping into the waters at the Falls is exhilarating The water was really cold today but we stayed in for a long time. We do have so much fun and are thankful for our opportunities and our good health. Back to Deb’s house for a picnic brown bag lunch with lots of laughing and cold watermelon for sharing. Deb’s house in on 50 or 60 acres bounded by old stone walls, fields filled with milkweed, with long views of the mountains to the east. As well it abuts the Trustees of Reservations Chapel Falls preservation and Deb has put a CR on her land. Lots of land in preservation!! Off for the 4 o’clock swim at the Conway Pond.(Just can’t seem to get enough swimming these days.) See some of you at Jonathan’s wedding tomorrow, Love to all. Penny PS Madge: We all missed you and hope you’re OK. Hoping you’ll be in these parts soon.
