Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

1/12/17 – Amherst MA

Incredible hike today but I can’t get at my photos except for this one of Fort River (the longest undammed river in MA).Trail conditions were icy, spikes necessary. We experienced glacial land forms and the undulating grass covered sand dunes (!) that formed at the edges of prehistoric Lake Hitchcock. Amherst College is land steward of this vast tract and it’s generous that we get to freely explore it. After the hike we had a tour of Hitchcock Center at Hampshire College. The building is on the very cutting edge of green design. Google it, you’ll be amazed. Can’t wait to get back on my (ailing) computer. “January Thaw” Is fun, don’t you think? It got to 54degrees today. Holding Vivian close in my heart, Penny Looks like Phil and Ellie’s email addresses incorrect. Somebody want to forward this to them? Thanks.
