Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

3/16/17 – Wendell State Forest

Our last hike of the 2017 Winter: Here are just a few photos borrowed from Tony of one of the best hikes ever. Some of us gathered at the trail map at the start of the hike and then set out, led by Lissa, on the Jerulsalem Trail .From that trail we set out on unbroken deep snow for the long (long!) climb to the “Lookout”. It was unbelievably beautiful, temperature at 25 degrees, plenty of sun, and turn taking breaking trail. We had a mighty good workout! General nonsense, singing of Irish tunes, and some mutinous threats heard from the back of the line along the way!!:) until at last we reached the Lookout with views as far as Mt. Greylock to the West.
We were thankful for our already broken trail on the way down! It was heavenly all day long. Mother Nature was showing off her recent snowstorm. We were out for 3 1/2 hours of hiking,then off to the Wagon Wheel for a late lunch. I had a black bean/avocado burger, others more adventurous, had the Cowboy burger with giant onion rings, and Donna had a chicken taco that was a tower of tacos and chicken and avocado that defies description. Ice water washed it all down. Happy Saint Patricks Day, especially to all you Daleys who share Valley memories of it with me. Life is good!!! Penny {CAPTION}
