Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

11/20/17 – Tony’s land, Conway MA

Because we’ll be with our families celebrating and being thankful on Thursday, we hiked today, on Monday instead this week. Tony took us on a beautiful hike up, up, up, along his many waterfalls, to the historic Riley cellar hole, along streams where the beavers have demonstrated their dam building skills over many years, and ending up at “Tony’s Grotto” where he has done incredible cleanup work recently. Massive overgrowth of vines, dead trees,and overgrowth of live trees too got removed. I enjoyed lending a hand on the project, hauling and building brush piles. An impressive dam once held back a reservoir of water that allowed a slaughter house and bone button factory to thrive downstream with water power generated by the dam. A hearty pot luck “apres hike” party at Tony’s house was so much fun. Thursday hikers Lynn, John, Deb and her dog Annie, and Viviane Zadroga who, we all hope, is near the end of a very long and debilitating bout of shingles all joined us. Tony’s big dining room table was a good place to be for an afternoon of being thankful and happy for our wonderful friendship. Have a good day this Thursday. None of us have to look far to find things to be thankful for! Love, Penny (Last photo is of the cranberry muffins I made with the cranberries I picked on our Wickett Pond hike.) {CAPTION}
