Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

12/28/17 – Conway MA

With the temperature hovering at 11 degrees and the wind chill at 10 to 20 below zero, not all of the usual hikers headed out today. The rest of us took off on snowshoes across Tony’s hayfield and down into his wooded land. Hiker dog Annie became extremely chilled early on so we brought her back to the house to wait for us. Once into the woods, the wind chill factor lessens and the beauty all around is just wonderful. We hiked for a little over an hour, then ended up coming across another hayfield where the wind chill factor really did hit a bit hard. But it’s all just so much fun (and my thumbs have thawed out.) Thanks to Paul and Tara for the Heat Tec Christmas shirt that I wore today. It is nice and warm. Tony had made good soup and the rest of us brought other hearty pot luck provisions. Donna, Elaine, and Conrad who hadn’t hiked came for lunch.Christmas tokens were exchanged. Lissa wrote a poem that she read as she passed out colorful kerchiefs to each of us. As you can see, they quickly became bowties and hair bows. It was very special to have Ted Watt, naturalist, join us for the hike and pot luck lunch today. Happy New Year! Love, Penny {CAPTION}
