One of most wonderful hikes. On newly fallen snow that had stayed on the trees and made a real wonderland of forest beauty as well as great footing for snowshoeing. Pristine and exciting. High spirits had us shaking trees to make a sudden fall of snow on unsuspecting friends. Trails were steep and narrow. Once we reached the high lookout, we were excited to see views of other mountains we’d climbed. On the way down we spotted a walrus, although some said it might have been a beaver. I think it was a very large prehistoric insect. What do you think? After many hours of wonderful winter hiking, we headed to Bread Euphoria, a health food restaurant and bakery on Rt. 9. Great food always. i had a large and wonderful slab of free form grilled red pepper “pizza”, others had beautiful quiches and sandwiches with portobello mushrooms, bacon, and grilled tomato on slabs of great bread. Sarsaparilla and Root Beer too! We’ll be returning to Bread Euphoria on Saturday night to hear hiker Lynn (Bass player) and her small musical group perform. Their signature closing song of “Sentimental Journey” just has everyone happy and singing along. I really do hope that all is well with you all. Hi Claudia and Paulie! I would love to hike with you. Love, Grandma Penny
