Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

3/8/18 – DAR State Forest, Goshen MA

Giddy from the new snowfall, we had a strenuous (i.e. “lost at times”) hike today.
Early into the hike, Joe told us that if we would stick our faces into the snow we would get a nifty face imprint. He was first to try it-and it works!!!! So all bets were on. Even Sukee got into the challenge.
After that we set out on gorgeous single file, unbroken trails with the trees all snow laden and beautiful. But those trails became unmarked (i.e. we had lost the trail), We took turns breaking trail (not easy in newly fallen deep snow) and making decisions of where to go next. It turned out to be fun (!) and a reminder of how wonderful it is to have great and trusted friends.
I know that you, Fred and Sue, have had a hard time with these storms. Maybe others of you too. For that I am sorry. But I hope you’re all reading Chip’s inspiring Appalachian Trail blog as he hikes his way northward. It’s the best reading ever. So go stick your face in the snow (or not) Love, Penny
