Paul, often a Thursday Hiker guest, offered to take us on a mystery hike today. It was fun, an easy walk through a lot of fields (think ticks and poisson ivy though) with bag lunches at his house after the hike. He had lots of lemonade for us and we celebrated Lynn’s birthday with cupcakes made by Lissa and a new crown for Lynn. (Sorry, no photo,) Fortunately there were enough streams so that German Shepherd Sukee could escape the sun and loll about in the water. The fields were ripe with wildflowers. Among them today were Hoary Alyssum, Rough-fruited Cinquefoil, Corn Cockle, and of course Deptford Pink. There was so much milkweed (in bud stage) that we assumed that the Dept. of Wildlife might have had a hand in seeding it. Once loaded in the car for their ride home the two dogs – best friends – were soon snoozing. As for me, once home, I headed straight for the hammock and had a satisfying snooze myself. I hope you, too, are having wonderful late Spring weather. XO Penny
