Another great day out with wonderful friends. The DAR forest (I’m thinking of you, dear Mary) has beautiful campgrounds, and we enjoyed seeing families swimming on the beaches that go with the camp sites. Good dog Sukee found endless swimming opportunities. We found a hedgehog fungus on a tree (see close up photo). Good dog Annie amused herself with sticks as we stopped in the heat and just enjoyed each others company (and also enjoyed “just stopping” in the heat). The Hemlock Trail has lovely needle covered trails and lots of water! I found a Bolete mushroom growing from the base of a tree. It suggested it might be a stove pipe for the leprechaun that lives in the hollow stump of that tree. Find of the day – for me – was the fungus “Dead Mans’ Fingers”. It’s always one of my (dark side) favorites. Bag lunches and shared goodies at picnic tables on the grounds where Lynn gave a grand little speech. When Tony and I got home, we had our daily 4 o’clock swim in the Conway Pond. It’s a bonafide revival event every day in this heat, and we missed you, Madge. Safe travels to you tomorrow.Everyone asked abut you and sends good wishes. Great love to all, Happy Birthday Fred, Happy travels Anna and Jason, and see some of you rascals in Bay Head tomorrow. Best! Penny
