Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

11/15/18 – Mt. Toby area, Sunderland MA

Temperature at 21 degrees, but only light winds, so very pleasant hiking on very open trails – but with no trail markers. Nancy knows this 3 1/2 mile hike pretty well and used her GPS once in a while just to be sure. Icicles are forming, shallow spots are freezing over, and winter is a-comin’.The water in the streams is fast flowing from all the recent rains and we had to throw some big rocks in to give us some above water (sort of!) footing for getting across, It was fun, accompanied by a lot of nonsense, of course. The scenery was wonderful, in particular the long stretches of oddly sculpted rock formations. We stopped and explored them for a bit. Lissa brought our a bag of small pumpkin donut holes and Nancy passed dried mangos. Yummy! The dogs were full of energy and, in spite of the cold, Sukee took some dips in the frigid fast flowing waters.
After the hike (and we were sorry to have it end) we had lunch at “Just Roots” a natural foods cafe. I had a grilled cheddar, apple, and arugula on ciabatta bread along with a wonderfully hot cup of tumeric/ginger tea.
Here’s wishing you all a really happy Thanksgiving. Paul, Tara, Claudia (kindergarten aficionado), and Paulie (potty training champion), Anna, Jason, Tony, maybe Viviane, and Joe, will be here. How I wish it were possible for of us to be together. Cheers! Penny
Hi Linda. I think of you a lot when hiking. Here’s the latest hike report. Too bad that Gwen wasn’t able to be with us today. She’s fine, just overloaded. {CAPTION}
