Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

3/7/19 – Williamsburg MA

We gathered at Gwen’s log home, happy to be together again, and soon had our snow shoes on (or were “shod” as we like to say). The morning temperature had been at minus 6, so it was cold, but sunny, and just a little breeze. Temperatures got up into the 20’s by noon. Because of the cold I just can’t take the photos I’d like to take because gloves off = frozen fingers. The trails were nearly perfect with new snow that was not crusted over. The snow was deep, light, and gorgeous. The dogs were eager to get going. We all love black dog Bella, so do Sukee and Annie, but Bella will be back with her owners who are returning from a 2 month (!!) ski trip in Canada. Gwen has been “dog sitting” Bella. We hope to have her hike with us again. After two hours of hiking we got back to Gwen’s house (photo shows her big, warm, wonderful sun room)) where we got out our brown bag lunches and thawed out inside the house. I had tuna on whole wheat, apple slices, and a big bottle of water and it was mighty fine. The longer days inspire me. You too? Love, Penny
