We go to Bear Swamp second week of May because the wildflowers will be wonderful. And they were. They will be wonderful for another week so come on up and I’ll take you there. In order (and I didn’t even include everything): Marsh Marigold, Beech fern, native honeysuckle, first snake we’ve seen this year. bryophyte, Rosie Twisted Stem, Sarsaparilla, Painted Trillium, Sessile Bellwort, close up on the very dainty Carolina Spring Beauty, Canada violet, Waterleaf, Dutchman’s Breeches, Squirrel Corn, a field of Ramps, Toothwort, Red Trillium. Wild Ginger, and one True Solomons Seal ( we only saw one, but lots False Solomon’s’ Seal). This isn’t comprehensive, but I have no idea how many photos I can send at once. What a glorious and exciting day we had.
