Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

5/16/19 – Dubuque State Forest, Hawley MA

This time of year all of our hikes seem focused on the spring ephemerals. So the wet woodlands of the Dubuque forest is yet another promising place to be on a Thursday. We saw the Pad Orchid putting up a bud, Wood Sorrel, dainty white GoldThread just blooming, native Honeysuckle with its twin blossoms, Toothwort in bloom, Clintonia in bud, Spikenard zooming up from the soil, and sweet little Quaker Ladies blooming away…and much more but photo space is limited. We ate our bag lunches at Hallockville Pond where we celebrated Lissa’s birthday with a bluebbery pie that Tony had made for her. All in all a very perfect day with good friends, good dogs, the excitement of the woods, and at last : SUNSHINE! I hope the rain and cold temperatures are gone for you too, and that the sun continues to shine on all of us. Love, Penny {CAPTION}
