Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

12/5/19 – Rivulet Trail on the Bryant Estate, Cummington, MA

First is a photo of the William Cullen Bryant estate, aTrustees of Reservations property. We parked near it so I thought you just might like to see it. Our hike was in the forest on the estate. Such beautiful snow, and such a beautiful hike. Because it was our first snowshoe hike of the year, we were pretty excited to get going. It was a day to celebrate snow, winter, a beautiful forest and, as always, friendship. It was a two dog hike with good dogs Annie and Hammy. Tony won’t be able to hike for quite some time so Sukee stayed home today. I’ll take her on some future hikes. Tony had his first PT session today and will be working on balance and strength. You might be interested to go to the “Old-Growth Forest Network” website. The old growth trees on this estate are awesome. Apres hike lunch at the Creamery where I had a bowl of piping hot black bean and sweet potato soup with a side of cornbread. We celebrated Nancy’s birthday with a chocolate mocha cake made on the premises. (It was really good!) Last photo has nothing to do with the hike. It’s a 1773 home that has been vacant for possibly more than 20 years. If we were younger….imagine the possibilities! I hope you had a really good day too. Penny {CAPTION}
