A wonderful day after Christmas hike with good snow and lots of ice and everyone happy to get our for a hike on the East Branch of the Westfield River Trail. (I think you know it, Phil and Ellie?) Nature sculpted ice formations formations were everywhere and had us lollygagging with awe. One waterfall had its water flow covered with a frozen curtain of ice. The variety of ways ice can freeze is something to marvel at. There was once a rock quarry on the trail and we had fun thinking about trying to climb the rock faces, Challenges were made, but no one took them seriously of course. Guest hiker today, Mary Ann and her dog Nobby. Mary Ann has tons of nature knowledge and also does some oil painting of nature scenes. We had good conversations. Nobby had to stay on leash so as not to run off into the river! Lunch at the Creamery where I had the Vegetable Rice bowl, all heated up and with avacado on top. Lots of water too. Christmas was so so good. I hope yours was too. Love, Penny
