Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

10/31/20 – Notchview Nordic Ski Area, Windsor MA

It rained hard on Thursday, snowed on Friday, so we hiked on Saturday. It was a day to celebrate!! The snow had clung to the trees and the scenery was unexpectedly beautiful. I noticed a beginner trail for children (“The Kinder Trail”) and with luck Claudia and Paulie will get to ski there one of these days. Please bring our grandkids too! Small spruces looked ready for Christmas all decorated with snow.! We had our bag lunches in a ski shelter with a long view where we celebrated Conrad’s birthday with lemon squares that Donna had made and a birthday card with sentiments from all of us. Although it was Conrad’s birthday, he was still given the challenge of our new game we have for him: “Stump the Engineer”. Tony posed the question: “Most vehicles have one steering wheel. This relic has 5 steering wheels. Please explain that for us”. And darned if he couldn’t give a believable explanation. Maybe we’ll stump him nest week. Beautiful patterns in the newly frozen puddles, and a stone wall in the parking area that gently turned a corned on this old estate property, caught also our eye – as did just about everything today! Life is wonderful. There’s something to celebrate every single day. Lots of love, Penny {CAPTION}
