A beautiful hike through varied terrain and forest growth with 4 fast flowing, slippery rocked, small streams to cross. But no one went in or even got wet feet. The trails were deep with mostly various kinds of oak leaves and a combination of frozen and slightly thawed surfaces. Two friendly young rock climbers with climbing gear passed us on their way to the steep “climbing rocks”. Included in their gear they carried “crash pads” on their backs……just in case! We posed for a group photo that led to the singing of Auld Lang Syne….turns out we need to brush up on the words to that good song:) But one can always hum or make something up….. Tony had a great hiking day but decided it was smart to turn back before reaching the big climbing rocks although he rather thought he could have made it as he was still feeling pretty good when we got back to the car. We posed for a group photo that led to the singing of Auld Lang Syne….turns out we need to brush up on the words to that good song:) A young yellow birch wrapped its root around its neighbor. Here’s to when we, like the yellow birch, can “wrap our roots” around one another again, Auld Lang Syne to you, Penny
