Thanks to the Williamsburg Trail Committee, this beautiful historic hike is open for exploration. It commemorates the collapse of the Williamsburg Dam in 1874. At that time it was declared the worst tragedy in the USA. I’ve included some signage and hope you can enlarge and read about it. Early on, we Thursday hikers helped work on the building of the trail and Tony donated a picnic table at its base. We had our lunches at it today.and thought of him…. especially because the closing of his wonderful house and land happened today! I was there yesterday and saw 2 of the 4 children who will be so so so lucky to now be living there. Also photos of Partridge Berry in bloom, the cellar hole of the cabin of heroic George Cheney who saddled up an rode to town to yell that the dam was collapsing, and back at my house the baling of the hay was happening when I got home. With great energy and love sent to Fred and Sue, Penny
