Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

12/8/22 – Whiting Reservoir, Holyoke MA

Can’t think of a better way to spend time with friends than at this reservoir with its mostly flat 4.1 mile hiking “loop” around it. Built in 1888, this “farsighted venture” was built with horse drawn dump carts and steam power. It continues to be a water source for the city of Holyoke. Most of the walking loop is grassy with continual views of the water. At the end we climbed up to the dam edges and took in other views. Then off to Cap’n Jacks for fish sandwiches and a birthday celebration for Tom. Deb is just back from a trip to Peru and the Galapagos and I’m sharing a few of her photos with you too. Hope you’re easing into the Christmas season, Love from Penny
