Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

1/26/23 – Some Fitzgerald Lake trails, Hatfield MA

“Water, Water, Everywhere” including on all 2.7 miles of our trails today. The temperature was 42 degrees, and we felt as it we must be hiking on a Spring day in March. We were mostly on the Boggy Meadow and Middle Path trails. There’s a nifty side trail that goes over from Middle Path Trail to the cliffs behind Maple Valley Coop. You’ll see their parking lot and then Rt 91 and beyond, after the trees , is the Connecticut River, then to the right is the Holyoke range. Also today we were hiking beneath the skies where Air Force jets from Barnes Air Force base were continually flying low overhead with all ll the intimidating sound that they make. We wondered if, in one of those planes, there might be a female pilot! It’s amazing and wonderful that so much untouched nature has been conserved so close to modern, bustling civilization. Not many January days left! Penny {CAPTION}
