Six of the original Thursday Hikers had a beautify day together in Wendell State Forest. The Mountain Laurel is so “showy” this year and these trails were a great place to hike densely packed stands of them. As well, he rock formations along the trails were wonderfully interesting too. The trail we took, about 3 miles long, had interesting varied terrain on mostly narrow trails. We stopped to clear one of those trails from a tree that had fallen. Then lunch at a picnic table overlooking Wickett Pond where we all had lots to talk about and two bags of potato chips to choose from! Then down to Wickett Pond to look for the legendary Wickett Pond Water Snakes but they didn’t show themselves. However, many newly hatched dragon flies, tadpoles. and small fish provided reason to linger. This was my first hike since my hip replacement. I had intended to hike only a bit of it, but had no trouble at all doing the whole hike. Many heartfelt thanks to my Surgical Coach Ginni, and for the long visits from Anna, Paul, Tara, Claudia and Paulie. You all brought me powerful healing magic. Life long thanks to all of you. XO Penny
