I hiked with the Pioneer Valley Fern Society today along with Thursday hiker Nancy (who know the ferns well, including their latin names.) It turned out to be such an enjoyable day with (serious) fern hunters. This is the last hike of the year for them. I learned some new things and sure do mean to increase my fern vocabulary. Nezt time you see me I might be wearing a PVFS hat! Today we hiked Mt Tom Cave Hill trail, steeply up then steeply down for total of 3 miles. It could not have been any more pleassant, weather, people, and of course, the ferns ( both dormant and stil green).I’ve included two photos of two different kinds of grape fern. It’s new to me! I’m hoing that your Thanksgiving gatherings were really happy and full of thanks too. Penny
