Accompanied by Mike’s Border Collie, we spent a really great day up in “Tony’s” woods clearing trails and having a fine day of fun together. A visit to Tony’s family memorial stones found a really big tree had fallen right on top of Tony’s stone (third photo). We’ll hire a local man we know to clean it all up. Mike (new owner) is so friendly to all of us and to Tony’s memory.
We stopped and listened to a nest of Raven youngsters non stop complaints about a hawk that was circling their nest.
And it was Lady Slipper Day! . We’d scouted them last week and knew they’d be in bloom today. They’re exquisite. They grow scatteded all through the woods. We must have seen at least 30 of them. You can see Joe on his knees taking photos of them with several in the foreground.Tony was a dedicated steward of his land and Mike will eventually follow in his footsteps. Presently he has so so so much work to do on the house, on the spring, in the woods, with the Scottish Highlland cows, the goats, the chickens as well as being a great father, along with Michelle, a great mother, to their 4 children. I hope you’re seeing lots of pretty things too, Penny
