6/27/24 – The Hume trail at Notch View Ski Center, Windsor, MA

Only 5 of us today on a trail we love and have hiked in all seasons. It surprised and delighted us that so many wildflowers were in perfect bloom. Blue Chicory (Tony’s favorite), Maiden Pink, Bladder Campion, many tall grasses going to seed and many more. Hume Trail, like others of the trails we love, is stating to need work. But those slanty bridges still held today. On our icy winter hikes they presented us with considerable challenges (and FUN).! We did do some trail clearing, and as well made note of places that could useTrustee help. Last is a photos of Goat’s Beard so beautifully gone to seed, and we think “Box Rattle” that was growing near it. Too many others to list . A perfect day in a perfect, almost primeval, damp, mossy place. We drove to The Creamery for lunch. I had a mozzarella, tomato, and tangy green sauce sandwich made on their own focaccia bread. And we all declared how thankful and happy we were for such a perfect day together. Hope all’s well, Penny
