We really look forward to our blueberry picking day at the Bensen Place so very high up in the hills of Heath and so full of some of our best memories together. The two handled metal rakes are both efficient and fun to use. We picked 63 pounds of ripe low bush berries today, far less than we used to pick but enough to satisfy our “needs”. The weather was delightfully cool with a steady breeze and a low gray cloud cover. Back at the sorting machine we always have fun, although my photo seems to have caught us in a very “task focused” moment. Actually we sing old songs, laugh a whole lot, and play practical blueberry conveyor belt sorting pranks on one another. And the day always seems to end too quickly. We had our bag lunches (and blueberries!) at an old picnic table in a quiet meadow with remembrances of other happy days spent at Bensen together.
