Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

11/7/24 – Pine Grove, Northampton, MA

Great hiking weather: windy, 63degrees. Restoration of Nashawannuck Brook, wetlands, flood plain, and wildlife habitat is in progress at “Pine Grove”. which was once a 100 acre golf course with grants including those from Mass Audubon. We had a 3 mile wonderful hike full of fun including excitement at the base of a giant White Swamp Oak where we picked up some of its 2” long stemmed acorn shells.. We passed by long overgrown golf tees that must have been wonderful challenges in their heyday. 3 miles on various trails seemed all too short a hike as it was such a great day together. We piled into our cars and headed to our friend Paul’s house Paul had invited us to hike here with him and had led the hike today He treated us to bean soup he had made with a mix he got in South Carolina on a recent hiking trip. It was an exceptionally mighty fine day …. one we all really needed! Thinking of each one of you, Penny
