With a light rain falling, we covered 3.1 miles on Fitzgerald Lake trails up behind RockRidge Retirement Community. Our friend Gwen, once a hiker full of energy, now lives at RockRIdge in their Memory Unit. Just a very few photos were taken today, mostly at a wildlife blind where we got in from the rain and looked out over a wetland with Red Winged Blackbirds flying about and singing their unique song. Quite a bit farther on we spent time at a large boggy area and did some more bird watching where our bird identification skills needed the help of “Merlin”. We did see a small patch of Pipssissewa (alas the photo wasn’t in focus). Then over to RockRIdge where the staff had set us up in a very nice room with a big table, white table cloth, table cloth and pitchers of ice water and we celebrated Gwen’s birthday. She was wonderful and, although she can’t remember our names, she was so very happy to be with all us and wants us to visit again. And we will! Happy first day of Spring to all of you, (and Hppy Birthday to you, Paul!) Penny.
