Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

9/11/25 – DAR State Forest, Goshen, MA

A long stretch of beautiful New England weather continued for our hike today. We started out at the fire tower which most of us could remember climbing to its top. But that was 12 years ago, and today we just shared good memories of that climb and then started out on our 3.27 mile hike down through the forest. The trails were rocky and narrow with glacial erratics strewn all around . We were excited to see a leopard frog in the forest duff. Here it looks enormous but indeed its length was perhaps 3 and 1/2inches. Finally back down at the lake we found what we thought might have been built for a small child to play and swim in. Bag lunches were enjoyed down at the lake, ending with a blueberry cobbler for celebrating Peter and Kathy’s 50th wedding anniversary. I think of each one of you, and wish I could be with you. Penny
