A perfect late summer hiking day with the best of friends. The woods were welcoming and peaceful, the dogs made the most of it, the fungi were showing off, and the cold waters at Chapel Falls gave us so, so much swimming fun. Maybe that’s an Amanita white mushroom? For sure the very striking red one is Caeser’s Mushroom. We’ve were searching for it last week, and there it was today! WIth one mature (not shown) and a ring of others just coming up (not shown because of limiting the number of photos I can send). It was quite a happy moment when we spotted them. The fried egg 🙂 floating down the brook also had us delighted! It was some kind of foam with a big yellow leaf in the center! I was given an Autumn leaf to wear in my hair – it even survived my swim .Chapel Falls, the most wonderful of natural swimming holes. And bag lunches in the lovely and productive gardens at Trustees of Reservations Bullit place. The last photos were taken by Tony of us girls having the most hilarious swim at the Falls. And then back to Conway ….. and more swimming at the Conwy Pond. “Second Childhood” suits me. Go for a swim! Lots of love, Penny
