Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

1/28/16 – Broad Brook Forest, Easthampton MA

Rigorous climb today, led by a newcomer, Paul, in the area that was devastated by last summer’s “microburst” that leveled many acres on Mt Tom and surroundings. In the third photo you can see Mt.Tom through the felled trees. Our only break for nonsense today was when we found a rusted, bullet ridden car to play in. Was it perhaps the last ride for Bonnie and Clyde? Other than that we just kept hiking upward, until we headed downward on really rutted trails. It was fun though! We ate our brown bag lunches on big trees that had fallen in the storm. The sun was out, the temperature around 37, and it was, all in all, a most wonderful 4 hour hike with great friends. For you Winter Campers: hold tight. The scheduling of a date that will work for everyone is might tricky. Hopefully it will get resolved real soon. Love to all, Penny {CAPTION}
