We had a fantastic day of hiking today. The terrain and the forest seemed primeval in its beauty. We were way high up in the mountains. The weather was brisk. This was a long hike that had one major challenge: crossing a fast flowing stream. The recent rain had caused rapid water flow and deep waters. We searched and searched for the best way to cross and ended up choosing to go knee deep at what looked like the safest way across. (So! I hope you are wearing wool socks when you have to go knee deep across a very cold stream, by the way.) The adventures of today I really can’t describe, but for sure the mettle of our friendship, our caring for each other, our problem solving, has cemented the Thursday Hiker bonds forever. That’s me in the second photo making the crossing. Doesn’t look like much, but I gotta tell you …. it was! Bag lunch in a CCC built lean to, and much sharing of food, was simply wonderful. Love – and warm, dry feet to everybody, Penny
