The Polar Vortex winds were fierce with temps between 20 and 15 degrees and at first it seemed totally crazy that we were attempting a hike. But give it a half hour of steady snowshoeing and warmth is generated from your body core. It was gorgeous: 10 “ of new snow, unbroken trails. Too cold to take gloves off for photos so I begged these from Tony. We hiked for 2 hours then set off to the Creamery in Cummington for a hot lunch. I had red lentil curry soup and grilled corn bread. We celebrated Donna and Nancy’s birthdays with birch bark crowns decorated with wild cucumber vines and had a chocolate raspberry birthday cake made at the Creamery. All in all a marvelous, gutsy!, great day out with friends. Stay near your wood stoves,, Love, Penny
