Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

3/15/18 – DAR State Forest, Goshen MA

We hiked in a wInter wonderland today on 2 feet on freshly fallen snow, with temperatures in the mid 30s, and a light wind. Face planting continues to amuse us as does deciding on which trail to take. Once we got going we had nearly 4 hours of hiking starting out on snowmobile trails, then onto a trail that had already been broken by nordic skiers and snowshoers, then onto unbroken trails that we took turns breaking. With 2 feet of fresh snow it was a mighty good work out. Once out of the woods, we headed to Country Pie Pizza in Ashfield where we had soup, slices of pizza, lots of water, and lots of good talk. We also went into the charming and very overstocked Ashfield Hardware Store which, quite simply, “has everything”. Next week we will celebrate 5 years of hiking together, an anniversary of so many years that it’s hard to believe it! We plan to sing and tell stories! I keep Chip in mind as he sets out into the Great Smokey Mountains with quite a climb today. I’ll check on him through his journal first thing in the morning. XO Penny {CAPTION}
