Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

2/14/19 – Chesterfield Gorge, Chesterfield MA

Brr….. very few photos because taking photos means taking off gloves. We had such a fine hike, as we always do. The Eastern Branch of the Westfield River is really beautiful, and today it appeared almost black and icy cold. A substantial crust on the snow surface needed breaking through, but the good snow beneath made the snowshoeing wonderful.
Whereas in April we see Spring ephemerals along the trail. today we saw bob cat tracts that went down to the river and then climbed back up the hillside. Sukee sure did got her nose down in those tracks!
It felt so good to be out on the trail, with occasional sun breaking through, and not much wind. Then off to the Snack Shack in WIlliamsburg for a late lunch (I had a yummy lobster roll and cole slaw) followed by a blueberry pie that Tony had made for Joe’s birthday.
All this on Valentine’s Day! I hope you had a fine day too. XO Penny Hello from everyone, Madge{CAPTION}
