The rain held off for us to have a really great Spring day of hiking. The hike itself had wonderful challenges on some steep ups and down. It was a “three dog hike”. Sukee, Annie, and Hammy took advantage of open pond waters for what looked like Dog Watersports Olympics! How wonderful to see the May Flower blooming! Nancy put out a challenge – with a free lunch as the prize – for whoever could identify a notably huge tree we came upon. It turned out to be a tulip tree, which Lissa identified after lots of wrong guess were bandied about. Much of the day was spent crossing small streams with some real challenges (i.e. fun) for getting to the other side. We got side tracked by the curious remains of a structure made mostly of stone and some brick work too. There was no conclusion as to what it might have been, but lots of crazy guesses. Even engineer hiker Conrad was stumped! I’m including a photo of a Pipsisewa; note the “teeth” at the tips of the leaves (so you can identify it next time you see one). We came upon a trail that instantly had us thinking of Chip and his endless days on those rock strewn trails on the Appalachian TraIL.. WOW!!!! to you, Chip, to your funny looking clown shoes too! Last photo shows Joe (in his yellow jacket) taking a photo. If you look straight up from his camera, you can see the Conway hills way in the distance. Well at least this is shorter than the other Report you’ve read today. Happy Easter to each one of you. Love, Penny
