Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

1/30/20 – “Bailey Road”, Ashfield Road MA

This will go down as one of our best hikes ever. Temperature in the upper 30s, great footing on frozen snow with spikes on our feet, and a tremendous number of animal tracks We felt that, as homo sapiens, we really were a minority group. Of course, Deb was sporting her new Daniel Boone hat so she might have passed as a raccoon?? A small stream had such pretty ice formations – twigs had been encased in ice in a way we hadn’t ever noticed before. After 2 1/2 miles of long uphills and long downhills (Deb had a “gadget that tracked such information) we were still far from out destination of Mary Lyons’ birthplace so we turned back and retraced our way. 2 1/2 miles back to the cars. It was so full of fun. Last photo is by a hard to read Franklin Land Trust sign that declares this land is “Protected Forever”. Amen to that! Lots of love, Penny {CAPTION}
