Beautiful Chesterfield Gorge was carved into metamorphic bedrock by glacial waters. We try to get there in every season, and today was a perfect late Autumn day for it after so many rainy days this week. The Westfield River runs freely and fast beside the trail. The trail is wide and flat so it’s an easy day out and always full of fun and beauty. Lissa tried to set up a group photo ….. but the fun and nonsense of the day seemed to have already revved us up. We walked the trail down to the river and then back, about 3 1/2 or 4 miles with so many beautiul sights along the way. Back at the parking picnic area we had our bag lunches and ended with a fabulous apple cake made by Lissa for celebrating Conrad’s birthday. Of course we all miss Tony, and good dog Annie sure does miss Sukee. Let’s all brace ourselves for the early darkness of the days that are all too soon to come. Keep well, Penny
