Thursday Hikers

Est. 2013

10/27/22 – Wicket Pond Loop Trail, Wendell MA

61 degrees with leaf color fading but still wonderful, this 3.2 mile hike is one we didi 6 years ago. Because of the wonderful weather, and with only 6 of us on the hike, we took it rather slow, even at times stopping to sit in the sun at old haunts when Tony was with us. Maneuvering narrow trails through extensive stands of Mountain Laurel and a visit to where we once gathered cranberries. The memory of those cranberries seemed fresh although the density of the shrubs finally proved impassable.Long stretches of trail beside the pond were more like small streams but we slogged through and had many laughs together.Always on the lookout for plants or animals, we did see salamanders, one fish, and a fast swimming snake in the pond, some WItches Butter, and some Dragonflies. We all brought chairs and had lunch “pondside” in the sun. It was really a perfect day together. I hope you’re loving these slowly waning Autumn days, Love, Penny
