It was a great day out 0n 3.2 miles of some rather challenging steepish trails with icy conditions. We had to wear spikes! FIrst two photos: picturesque snow mounds created by Tussock Sedge growing beneath them. Joe Zadroga’s Wolf Tree and perhaps dead Wolf Tree (note the branch construction on it). Icy foot worn trail. Where there wasn’t icy depressions, there were many exposed tree roots to trip on. Drumlins caused by glaciation, abound. The “classic” drumlin is a smooth, streamlined hill that resembles an egg half buried along its lengthwise axis. Beneath its dome it’s filled with sand gravel, assorted debris even bouders. (But of xourse you already know all that;) Lunch at Greenfield’s Market where we celebrated Joe’s birthday. Deb made his card from a fine photo that Joe had taken of a bluebird flying out of a birdhouse. He’ll frame it! Lissa made her famous brownies for the birthday treat. Alas I just had an email from Donna (pictured next to me at the table). She awoke feeling poorly and has tested positive for Covid. I’ll do he covid testing, and hope for the est. XO Penny
